Respiratory Examination 10: Whispering Pectoriloquy

To confirm consolidation

  • Ask the patient to whisper "One-two-three" quietly, under his breath
  • Listen with your stethoscope over where you think there is consolidation
  • If lung is normal, you will not hear anything
  • You will hear "one-two-three" clearly if consolidation is present
