Acuity,
Fields, Fundi, Pupils
- Acuity: Check
that the patient can read with each eye.
- If available,
a Snellen chart would be
ideal.
- Screen Visual
Fields by Confrontation:
- Make sure your eyes at at the same level
as the patient.
- Test
each eye individually, with the patient covering the
other.
- Hold
your hand about one foot away from the patient's ear,
and wiggle a finger whilst slowly moving
your finger towards the centre of field until the patient
can see it.
- Ask the
patient to indicate when they see the finger move.
- Check the nasal and temporal
fields of each eye.
